Almost 40 years ago George Lucas released the first film in what would go on to be arguably the most epic silver screen saga of the century. Since it’s release, the Star Wars franchise has become a ravenous juggernaut in the entertainment industry, raking in billions of dollars in just about every section of consumerism imaginable. Stories of hope, adventure, and mystery, have kept the Star Wars franchise on top with little sign of letting up. Now that Disney has purchased Lucasfilm, we’re all but guaranteed a few new movies a year for the foreseeable future.

As far a super-fans go, there are few franchises that can claim a more ardent fanbase than the mighty Star Wars franchise. And what do super-fans do to show their devotion? They get inked. Here are some of our favorite examples of Star Wars tattoo designs on the net.

This stormtrooper medallion.

Stormtrooper Star Wars Tattoo by Marc Durrant

Here we have an incredibly artistic Galactic Empire piece featuring a line of stormtroopers at different depths. The two troopers in the background appear as if they’re standing behind a red pane of glass. This creative graphic looks like something a professional graphic designer associated with the franchise would have produced. (Photo: Marc Durrant)

This amazing abstract work.

Darth Vader Star Wars Tattoo by Vlad Tokmenin

One of our favorites, the ominous Darth Vader would be right at home in an upscale art gallery in Soho. Russian artist Vlad Tokmenin creates amazing works of art in a variety of different styles.

This Kylo Ren calf piece.

Ever since The Force Awakens debuted, Kylo Ren has been getting some serious ink time. Everyone loves a villain. And that helmet just looks way too cool to pass up from a design standpoint. (Photo: Ash Higham)

BB8

BB8 Star Wars Tattoo by Andrew March

Ah BB8. R2D2’s replacement—as far as the cute drone goes—and Disney nailed it. From his cute sounds to his adorable droid swagger, we look forward to seeing plenty more of him in future episodes. This piece comes in with mammoth visual appeal. It’s as if Andrew infused every drop of ink with a little bits of space. (Photo: Andrew Marsh)

This brilliant watercolor stormtrooper helmet.

Stormtrooper Star Wars Tattoo b Felipe Fe Rod

Another one of our favorite artists, Felipe Rodrigues Fe Rod has no equal in the style department. If you ever find yourself in Brazil with a little extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, head over to Electric Ink and pay this guy a visit.

This flawless princess piece.

Star Wars Tattoo by Benjamin Laukis

Here we have Princess Leia looking as innocent as ever. A great piece that captures her signature look perfectly. (Photo: Benjamin Laukis)

This General Grievous thigh tattoo.

Grievous Star Wars Tattoo Design by Benjamin Laukis

Another spectacular piece by Benjamin Laukis. I guess he has a penchant for Star Wars tattoos. Or maybe he just attracts Lucas Hounds with his large portfolio of Star Wars themed ink.

This All Terrain Armored Transport.

AT-AT Star Wars Tattoo by Ishi Neve

Straight from the Galactic motor pool, this AT-AT walker looks as if it’s transport ship accidentally veered of course into a worm hole and spent some time in the 1960’s. The vehicle’s ornate mandala-esque pattern really gives this piece a playful appearance. (Photo: Ishi Neve)

This X-Wing squadron.

X-Wing Star Wars Tattoo by Nick Coffinas

A truly epic work of art with just a hit of red ink on the lead fighter. (Photo: Nick Coffinas)

Lord Vader.

Darth Vader Star Wars Tattoo by Felipe

Felipe strikes again with this spectacular display of skill and vision. We knew Vader’s face was messed up but who knew his teeth were so bad. With those rotted teeth, maybe his helmet was just a breath filter so he didn’t kill anyone he was having a conversation with by accident.

This Boba Fett belly tattoo.

Boba Fett Star Wars Tattoo by Benjamin Laukis

It’s always nice to see people embracing their body shape and taking advantage of their “lager canvas” areas. Awesome piece. (Photo: Benjamin Laukis)
