They say that first impressions mean everything. And while you normally wouldn’t associate that particular piece of advice with getting a tattoo, you definitely should.
Your first experience with ink will set the tone for how you view tattoos in the future and how they will affect your life.
A bad experience, which normally has everything to do with the design you chose, will leave a sour taste in your mouth and the concept of tattoos will be associated with regret and remorse.
However, getting a design that you love and cherish will almost certainly lead to more tattoos and an eternal appreciation for body art. Which is why it’s so important to put the proper time and consideration into your first tattoo design.
For those of you considering your first tattoo, I always recommend looking at as many designs as possible before making a decision. And even then, when you do finally make your decision, you should sit on that decision for a few months before pulling the trigger.
Here are 40 adorable tiny tattoo designs that every girl should see before she gets inked.
These Aladdin designs.
Just because the new Aladdin movie came out and was amazing, doesn’t mean you should run out and get a tattoo to celebrate the occasion. That is, unless you end up with something along the lines of this adorable 3-part design featured above.
Love.
In case you didn’t know, Hailey Bieber got yet another neck tattoo and this is it. Small, tasteful, and to the point, tiny neck tattoos like the one above are a popular trend for first-time inkers.
This wolf.
This seemingly simple tattoo design is anything but. If you look closely, you’ll notice that this tattoo was designed to emulate those “single line” drawings that artists create without removing their pen or pencil from the paper.
This colorful wrist piece.
The wrist is one of the most popular locations for first-time tattoos. And if you’re going to go wrist, this pink and purple planet being circled by an airliner definitely sets the bar high.
These bubbles.
We’ve posted a few of these “bubble” designs out of Saegeem Studio in South Korea. And no matter how many times I come across them, I’m absolutely blown away by fascinating color combinations and exquisite detail.
This chipmunk.
Arar creates these animated little animal designs and they’re a big hit whenever we post them. A little chipmunk doing a front flip, what’s not to love!?
This fish.
It’s difficult to see from this photo, and I don’t normally like posting more than one image of the same photo, but this little fish opens and closes its mouth when the subject spreads her fingers apart.
This elephant.
The composition of this photo undoubtedly adds to the allure of this design. But even if you took a photo of this elephant with the first camera phone ever made it would still be an awesome sight. Small and super detailed, slim-needle designs like this are always a yes.
These bluebirds.
I don’t know what’s going on, but during the prep for this article, I noticed that I had no less than 4 similar bird tattoos ready to go, so I needed to reduce that number by a few. Two made the list, and it was a difficult decision as all of the designs were of excellent quality.
